Sam Krehel, LMHC (they/them)
I offer heart-centered therapy and supervision from a relational perspective, building from all of your strengths and unique lived experience.
Clients benefit from exploring the roots of low self-esteem, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, and complex relational traumas (sometimes diagnosed as personality disorders). This relational model is also useful for identity work surrounding race, ethnicity, nationality, indigenousness, dis/ability, neurodivergence, fatness, age, life cycle stage, socioeconomic status, gender, religion, spirituality, sexuality, sexual orientation, and relationship orientation.
Supervisees benefit from increasing curiosity and awareness of the ways that colonization including the educational, nonprofit, and healthcare industrial complexes impact how we approach clients, our practices, and our work.
I utilize Black, Indigenous, queer, disabled, and feminist ideologies and strive to decolonize my practice in every way possible. My practice is body, trans, queer, kink, sex work, nonmonogamy, polyamory, relationship anarchy, and religion affirming.
I earned my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Multicultural Concentration from Antioch University in 2018, and I have additional post-graduate trainings in Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Plus (CBT+), and Narrative Therapy in addition to other models of psychotherapy. I continue to explore and learn about decolonized practices, liberation from internalized oppression, therapy, the mind, recovery from codependency, and emotions from both formal and informal studies. I completed my internship and licensure hours in a community mental health agency while establishing my private practice in late 2019.
In addition to telehealth offerings, I also offer outdoor therapy and walk & talk sessions on the Olympic Peninsula.
