Mayra Toscano Reveles, LMFTA (she/her/ella)
Hola, I’m Mayra (she/her/ella), a queer, Latina couple and family therapist.
I was born and raised in Southern California, the eldest daughter of two Mexican immigrants. I moved to Seattle in my mid-twenties, only a few months prior to the start of the 2020 pandemic. The pandemic shifted a lot for many, and certainly tilted our world on its axis. For me, it prompted a career change; I left my recruiting job in tech and pursued becoming a therapist.
As I began my education and training in 2021, I also became familiar with the Pacific Northwest. The seasonal patterns in the PNW helped me make sense of how often we experience change. My work as a relational therapist has evolved from my appreciation of nature. Be it in the fiery fall foliage, the barrenness of winter, the abundance of spring, or the promise of summer—and how beautiful, that each season relates to another.
As a therapist, I understand that we not only live in connection to one another but to our heritage and experiences. In my work with clients, relationships of all forms are centered. My approach and philosophy to therapy is client-centered, understanding the importance of the therapeutic relationship in achieving change.
Values that inform my practice include compassion, authenticity, curiosity, and accountability. I often integrate attachment theory, emotion focused therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and systems theory. Our work is tailored to best meet your needs and will integrate cultural traditions and values that are important to you.
