MJ Valentine LMHCA, CCTP (she/her)
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate | Certified Clinical Trauma Professional
MJ Valentine is a trauma-focused therapist who specializes in helping adults heal from complex trauma. Her work is integrative, drawing on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, somatic and polyvagal-informed practice, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). MJ is committed to continual learning, because trauma isn't a one-size-fits-all beast. She tailors her approach to each person, helping them understand how their nervous system and inner parts have worked to protect them and building the safety needed for deeper healing.
MJ earned her master's degree in counseling from Argosy University Seattle in 2015. She then spent over 10 years working in Human Resources in corporate America before returning to the world of psychotherapy and choosing to specialize in trauma. That experience gave her a deep appreciation for people's working lives, career pressures, and the stress that follows people home from work. She is also a self-published children's book author and illustrator, and she brings that same creativity and warmth into the therapy room.
MJ sees clients in person at the Valentine Growth Studio in SeaTac on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and by telehealth across Washington State. She is currently working toward full licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) under the clinical supervision of Issy Kleiman, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Washington State license LF60032200.
